3 in 1 Tailor SUCKS.

Just a word of a advice from one sucker to the wise: DO NOT bring any of your clothes to 3 in 1 Tailor; specifically in Eagan. They do really poor work and then charge you your left leg for their "services."

I am in a couple of weddings this summer, and therefore, have a couple of dresses that need to be altered. One is just a simple hem; it was at my ankles, I need it to be at my knees. Simple enough, right? The other just needed to be taken in. It fit at my bust, but not at my waist. I figured that these two alterations wouldn't be too complicated, but I wanted them to look professional so I refrained from doing it myself. As it turns out, I should have.

I went to pick them up yesterday and decided I should at least try on the dress that had been taken in. I tried it on and was fuming. Instead of taking it it at the waist like I had requested, they took it in at the bust... GREAT!! The reason I BOUGHT the dress was because it fit in the bust... a rare accomplishment. But now, it was way too tight and then fanned out at the waist like a dress made for a 6 year old. I was appalled. The woman asked to see it so I opened the curtain and she said "ah, perfect!!" I was speechless. So I changed back while weighing my options. The wedding that I needed that particular dress for was Saturday so I couldn't allow them to "fix" the dress much less ruin it further. At that point I decided that I would be better off doing it myself.

So I got to the register and tossed the dresses on the chair by the door. The guy said that they had steamed them so I probably shouldn't toss them around. I said that I would hang them up when I got home and thanked him for his advice. I was quickly becoming a bitch. He started ringing me up and said that taking in the one dress was $48.50, and hemming the other dress was $54.00. At this my jaw dropped and I said "$54.00 FOR A HEM!?" The man then said "Oh, she didn't tell you the price when you dropped them off?" "NO!!" "Well the fabric is very difficult to work with and it slid all over the place when we were trying to sew it and it was very time consuming work and if you had checked around you would have seen that our prices are quite comparable with any other place... we're the cheapest around actually..." He just kept rambling on because he could see how pissed I was. Finally he said "Well, I can tack on a $10 coupon if you would like." I said "Yes." I had to get out of there before I cried or did something that would land me in jail to cool off. So I paid the hundred bucks and stormed out.

My amazing mother in law (who was waiting in the car with Paul for me), upon seeing me so upset heard the whole story and said that she could fix them for me! So after the church service that we went to, we went back to her house and I tried on the dresses. This time I got a closer look at the crappy job they did to BOTH dresses. The one that was taken in looked ridiculous and they hadn't even bothered to line up the seams!!! Also, they totally lied... they didnt steam ANYTHING. Wtf? So Gayle was talking about the "shotty work" and looking things over. Then I tried on the other one, which, btw, they had hemmed 4 inches longer than what I said I wanted. I was sooooooo mad. Long story short, she said that it wouldn't be a big deal to fix the one by Saturday for the wedding and the other one didn't need to be done for another month so that was just fine. Too bad about the $100, though. :(

My mother-in-law is AMAZING, and 3 in 1 Tailor SUCKS. A turtle could have done a better job.

Don't go there, girlfriend.
